Discover the Origin is a three year campaign promoted by the European Union, Italy, France and Portugal about five key European products: Burgundy wines, Port and Douro Valley wines, Parma Ham and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. The aim of all of them is to enhance knowledge of the PDO (Protected Designation of Origin) among consumers, distributors and food professionals.
All five of these products carry a guarantee of their provenance and quality: the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) for Parma Ham and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, AOC for Burgundy wines and DOC for Port and Douro Valley wines. If you see these labels on any food or drinks, you can rest assured that you will be rewarded with excellent quality and that its provenance is guaranteed for without the unique earth and air inherent in these regions, these unique food and wine products would taste wholly different.
Any food which bears the coveted PDO stamp or drink stuff which has the AOC or DOC stamp, more often than not has also been produced for centuries by local artisans employing traditional methods that have been handed down from generation to generation. These are people who care passionately about what they do, and who combine modern technology with traditional methods only where this will enhance and not detract from the end product in any way.
These principles have long guided Rodney Densem himself on his buying trips to his personal favourite wine region - Burgundy – so we are happy to support this campaign with tastings and our shop window
which we are entering into Discover the Origin’s Independent Wine Retailer Best Display Competition.
In 2011 Rodney Densem Wines were judged Winners in the 'Discover the Origin' Best Retail Display competition. The award was presented at London Excel during the Internation Wine Fair at the Drinks Business Magazine Award ceremony...
