What's Happening at RDW?
RDW’s new Director, former General Manager, Nick Gent, has been keeping us all busy – spring cleaning all areas of operations. More than 100 new wines and spirits have been added to our portfolio so far this year – from the historic Gosset Champagne which Nick visited last month,
beers from our local award winning brewery, the recently awarded “World’s Best Vodka” (better still it’s British!) and the best vanilla vodka on the market, to pomegranate liqueur from France
and Pear Cognac from Sweden. Also flying the flag is the latest run from England’s first and only whisky distillery for over 100 years – St George’s.
We have been visited by the talented winemakers from two of New Zealands award winning boutique wineries – Paritua and Wild Rock – and subsequently increased our range with them. Our chairman and Burgundy specialist, Rodney Densem rates Paritua’s pinot noir as “the best new world pinot noir I’ve come across”. Shame it’s in limited quantities!
Our Italian range in particular has been completely overhauled and the new range from South Africa’s Young Winemaker of the Year (Moreson Winery) is flying off the shelves.
At the shop, we are excited to have been presented runners-up in the “Discover the Origin” promotion in conjunction with “The Drinks Business” Magazine.
Nick and Clare attended the London International Wine Fair in the middle of May for the presentation ceremony. click here for more info...
As for the website, the good news is we are gradually readjusting ALL pricing to keep Rodney Densem Wines as competitive as we can in today’s ever expanding online market.
Yes, the industry as a whole has had to increase prices following annual supplier price rises they can no longer absorb in the world’s economy, and further duty increases. HOWEVER changes in pricing policy here at RDW will result in most of our online prices actually falling!
Customers who live close enough to our retail experience in Cheshire (where we also have lots of plans for future improvements) will no longer find prices reflect all those online (where here, at our cluttered desks, overheads are lower).
Also, if the demands on Nick’s time ease slightly (being the ‘new boy’ manoeuvring a fork lift truck round the warehouse one day, dining with the head of the worlds oldest champagne house the next!) we are hoping to launch a regular online blog from him by the end of the year.
Thank you for your continued interest in RDW, remember any feedback is appreciated and we will always endeavour to do our best to accommodate any requests
or queries.
